Besigye trashes 'acclaimed' accident victim Simbwa's confession

Dr. Kizza Besigye, a former presidential candidate, took to his X account trashing Moses Simbwa who during the National Resistance Movement’s liberation day celebrations in Jinja openly confessed to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni that he was used by the opposition to defame the government with torture claims.

In his tweet, Dr Besigye asserts that Moses Simbwa, whom he identified as a former FDC activist in Jinja, had faced severe repercussions.

“I know for sure that Moses Simbwa has gone through one of the most traumatic experiences! I can confirm without any fear of contradiction that Simbwa was an FDC activist in Jinja and he has paid a huge cost with his life mainly because of that” said Besigye in a tweet

Dr Besigye questioned the circumstances surrounding Simbwa's health and the said road traffic accident

“If he had a “normal “road traffic accident, why wasn’t he treated for years? It was after his appearance in the HRs abuse exhibition that he was approached, and taken to Bombo Military Hospital, the beginning of his journey to the “confession” you’re shamelessly singing about!”

He insinuated that it was only after Simbwa participated in an exhibition highlighting human rights abuses that he received attention, being taken to Bombo Military Hospital, marking the beginning of what Dr. Besigye describes as a journey to a forced "confession."

Dr. Besigye further revealed that he incurred substantial expenses, owing more than Shs 15 million to a private health facility that aided Simbwa in his struggle to recover his health.

Addressing President Museveni, Mr Ssimbwa, a former member of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), tearfully confessed his role in a fabricated torture claim against the government.

"I’m a victim whom they took to Nairobi to claim that I was tortured by the Ugandan government. I’m here to ask for forgiveness for all that happened. The politicians use us because we want money. I am here today to expose the dirty linen of the opposition”

President Museveni acknowledged the issue, assuring Mr Ssimbwa that the government was well aware of such manipulative tactics employed by the opposition.

"We, in the security system that we know and at the right time are going to expose this bogus group, the opposition. They go talk with Europeans to see how to force Uganda to be a foreign puppet, but they don’t know how strong the NRM is”
