Angel Liz Murungi crowned Miss Uganda West 2026

The Miss Uganda 2026 regional tour has crowned its latest queen, with Angel Liz Murungi emerging winner of the Western Region leg after a weekend that blended beauty, entertainment and community support.

The Western Region finale, held at Motiv in Bugolobi, brought together contestants, fans, content creators and entertainment personalities as the young women competed for a place in the national Miss Uganda competition.

Angel Liz walked away with the regional crown, while Maria Joyce Arinda was named first runner-up and Shivan Owomugisha took the second runner-up position.

The weekend began on Friday with the V&A Party with the Queens, giving contestants a chance to step away from the pressure of the competition and spend time together through music, dancing and socialising.

The celebrations continued into Sunday when supporters filled the venue, cheering for their favourite contestants as they took to the runway to showcase their confidence and modelling skills.

The atmosphere was further lifted by performances from Kateleya and Kandle, alongside other emerging artistes who kept the audience entertained throughout the evening.

Beyond the competition itself, the Western Region finale became a celebration of the relationships and support systems that surrounded the contestants.

Maria Joyce Arinda, in particular, received strong backing from a group of content creators and influencers who turned up to support their friend. They had also been documenting her journey and rallying support for her throughout the competition.

One of the night’s lighter moments came when content creator Solomon Kimera was invited from the audience to try his hand at modelling. His unexpected runway appearance drew laughter, cheers and applause from the crowd.

For the contestants, however, the competition represented more than a chance to win a crown. It offered an opportunity to represent their communities, build confidence and inspire other young women to pursue their ambitions.

V&A Sherry Brand Manager Roy Ronald Tumwizere said the partnership was centred on celebrating women and creating platforms where their achievements could be recognised.

“As V&A Sherry, we stand for moments where women are empowered. Ours is a sorority built on empowering one another, and we have seen remarkable young women emerge from every corner of Uganda,” Tumwizere said.

With the Western Region now having its representative, attention shifts to the Central Region, the final stop on the regional tour before the national competition.

For Angel Liz, the Western Region crown is the beginning of a bigger journey as she now carries the region’s hopes into the race for the Miss Uganda 2026 title.
