Ugandan Engineers Freed By South Sudan After Muhoozi Intervention
Two Ugandan engineers who were abducted by South Sudan soldiers a couple of months ago have been released.
The freed hostages have been identified as Mr Joachim Musinguzi and Mr Julius Kitende.
Officials said the duo was freed after the Chief of Defence Forces Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba spoke to his South Sudanese counterpart, Gen Santino Deng Wol.
The engineers who were flown on Uganda Airlines yesterday (Monday) were received by military intelligence in Kampala.
Last month, Muhoozi and Deng met at the Defense Intelligence and Security Headquarters in Mbuya where they discussed “regional security issues of mutual interest”.
The army chiefs decided to observe and maintain a cordial and harmonious working relationship along the common border.
They further agreed that trade and commerce shold continue without any interruptions.
South Sudan agreed to deploy additional forces along Juba-Nimule Road to ensure and enhance safety of public road users.
