First Graduates from NUP Leadership School Celebrate Milestone

(Kampala) – Bobi Wine presented completion certificates to the first graduates from the National Unity Platform’s (NUP) newly established School of Leadership in Kavule, aiming to develop Uganda’s next generation of leaders.
This afternoon in Kavule, opposition leader Bobi Wine recognized the first cohort of trainees from the NUP’s School of Leadership by awarding them certificates of completion. The graduates, divided into three distinct groups – elected leaders, professionals, and foot soldiers – have completed the first level of a three part training program designed to develop and enhance leadership skills.
To mark this milestone, Bobi Wine invited Gen. Mugisha Muntu, head of the Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) Party, to serve as the event’s Chief Guest. In his keynote speech, Gen. Muntu emphasized the importance of discipline in political struggles, particularly for Uganda’s opposition. He spoke about the need for principled leadership, stressing that consistent, disciplined efforts are essential for creating meaningful change.

According to the NUP, the School of Leadership aims not only to equip future leaders with practical skills but also to impart strong values that can drive lasting transformation in Uganda. Bobi Wine highlighted NUP’s commitment to training leaders who can contribute to Uganda’s future, emphasizing the importance of values like integrity, responsibility, and dedication.
In his remarks, Bobi Wine referenced a famous quote from Nelson Mandela, who said, “Education is the most powerful weapon one can use to change the world.” Encouraging the graduates, he urged them to apply and share the skills they had learned to further Uganda’s development. He also reminded them of their duty to serve their communities, stressing that the knowledge they gained through NUP’s leadership program should benefit all Ugandans.

The leadership training program at NUP is structured in three levels, with today’s graduates completing the initial phase. According to party officials, the program will continue to support its participants through progressive levels that cover advanced leadership and strategic planning skills. The aim, they say, is to nurture a new generation of leaders ready to guide Uganda with vision and resilience.
NUP’s School of Leadership was launched with a mission to cultivate a disciplined, educated, and ethically grounded cadre of leaders capable of supporting Uganda’s journey toward democracy and social equity. Today’s graduates are seen as the first of many who will complete this rigorous training in order to serve the country in various capacities.
Bobi Wine encouraged the graduates to hold themselves to high standards and to remember the significance of their roles in Uganda’s progress. He emphasized that each trainee, whether an elected official, a professional, or a supporter, has a responsibility to Uganda’s people. The certificates awarded today mark only the beginning of what NUP hopes will be a broader movement to build capable and dedicated leadership across the country.
