"Re-elect Me or Not, I Oppose Bobi Wine’s Homosexuality Stand" – Abed Bwanika
Abed Bwanika, the current Member of Parliament for Kimanya-Kabonera, has recently shared strong opinions about his role in Ugandan politics and his views on the National Unity Platform (NUP), a major opposition party in the country.Bwanika has made it clear that he did not join the struggle for Uganda's liberation through NUP; instead, he was already involved before he met the party. He stated, "I will be in the struggle until I get what I think will help Ugandans."He also expressed that he is not worried about being re-elected as an MP. He said, "I don't care whether you re-elect me as MP or not," highlighting that his principles are more important than his political career. Bwanika has been particularly critical of Robert Kyagulanyi, known as Bobi Wine, and his stance on homosexuality. He believes NUP should take a clear position on this issue, which he feels has caused confusion among the public.Bwanika's remarks were made during an event at Malibu Gardens in Kampala, where supporters of Hon. Mathias Mpuuga gathered to discuss Mpuuga's future political plans. Mpuuga, a former Leader of Opposition, is expected to announce his next steps soon, especially given the tensions within NUP that have left many wondering about its future.Bwanika's comments reflect a growing discontent within NUP, particularly regarding its leadership and internal divisions. He has called for a new platform to pursue what he describes as a transition agenda for Uganda. As Uganda approaches the 2026 general elections, Bwanika's involvement with Mpuuga and other dissatisfied leaders suggests there may be changes in the political landscape. There are reports that they might form a new political party or group aimed at addressing the needs of Ugandans who feel overlooked by current leaders. What are your thoughts on this matter?
