Gen. Muhoozi Exposes Bobi Wine’s Hand in Besigye’s Arrest, Reveals What He Did Together with Gov't
Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Commander of Defence Forces (CDF) and President Museveni’s son, has claimed that the government, under his guidance and that of other senior generals, strategically supported Bobi Wine to weaken Dr. Kizza Besigye’s dominance as the face of Uganda’s opposition.
Speaking in a public statement, Gen. Muhoozi disclosed that the move was a calculated strategy to shift the political dynamics in Uganda’s opposition.
“It was actually our idea—me and other Generals. We convinced Mzee [President Museveni] that we can use Kabobi [Bobi Wine] to remove Besigye from being kingpin of the opposition. After we supported him with a lot of money (and he succeeded), he started abusing us,” Gen. Muhoozi revealed.
According to Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, this strategy involved substantial financial support for Bobi Wine’s rise to prominence.
He further noted that Bobi Wine, upon achieving a significant political position, began to criticize the same individuals and institutions that allegedly facilitated his ascension.
Dr. Kizza Besigye, a four-time presidential candidate and a stalwart of Uganda’s opposition, had long been regarded as the primary challenger to President Museveni’s regime.
However, Bobi Wine, through his People Power Movement, emerged as a formidable alternative, garnering widespread support among Uganda’s youth and marginalized communities.

Bobi Wine’s camp has not yet officially responded to Gen. Muhoozi’s claims. However, these allegations are likely to stir debate and skepticism among political analysts and the public, with many questioning the authenticity and motives behind such statements.
