NRM Spells Doom to Its Members, Alleges What They're Going to Do Against Them in 2026
The Deputy Resident City Commissioner (RCC) for Wakiso has made a clarion call for political parties, particularly the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM), to reevaluate their strategies and refocus on core principles.
Speaking candidly, the Deputy RCC emphasized the importance of returning to the fundamentals of political leadership: identifying, nurturing, and positioning competent leaders.
According to the Deputy RCC, longevity in power should not be confused with effective service delivery.
"We must separate these two issues. Staying in power is one thing, but delivering meaningful services to the people is what truly matters," the RCC stated.
This remark comes at a time when the NRM faces mounting criticism for failing to address critical governance and service delivery gaps despite its decades-long hold on power.
The RCC also stressed the importance of recognizing and appreciating efforts where they are due.
"As political parties, we have a duty to acknowledge contributions and achievements, whether they come from within or outside our ranks," he said.
As Uganda gears up for the 2026 elections, the RCC hinted at significant changes within the NRM. The party is expected to focus on leadership development and community engagement to regain public trust.
However, critics claims that the NRM’s entrenched systems of patronage and lack of internal democracy could undermine these efforts.

Observers note that these remarks signal an acknowledgment of the challenges facing the NRM and a possible roadmap for reform.
Whether the party can translate these ideals into actionable strategies remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: the politics in Uganda is set for an intense and transformative phase as the country approaches the 2026 polls.
