Inside The Life Of Betty Kamya After The Sudden Death Of Her Millitary Husband Spencer Turwomwe
Betty Olive Namisango Kamya, a prominent Ugandan politician, faced a profound personal loss with the death of her husband, Spencer Turwomwe, in 2003.Turwomwe, a soldier in the Ugandan military, passed away at Mulago Hospital after a nine-day hospitalization due to diabetes. His untimely death left Kamya to care for their six children.
The couple's relationship began during their high school years, blossoming from friendship into a committed partnership.
Kamya fondly recalls Turwomwe as a caring and supportive husband who provided unconditionally for the family.
Their shared interests included acting, as both were members of the drama group Black Pearls during their school days.
Following her husband's death, Kamya faced the challenges of widowhood with resilience. She declined a ministerial position offered to her shortly after his passing, despite the financial and emotional support it could have provided.
This decision underscored her commitment to her principles and her determination to navigate her personal and professional life on her own terms.
In interviews, Kamya has candidly discussed the difficulties of adjusting to life without her husband, including the changes in her social life and the responsibilities of single parenthood.
Despite these challenges, she continued to pursue her political career, serving as the Member of Parliament for Rubaga North and later taking on various ministerial roles, including Minister for Kampala Capital City Authority and Minister of Lands, Housing, and Urban Development.

She Managed to raise Thier six kids and she's currently the inspector general of the Government of Uganda since 2021.
