PLE Results: 2024 Performance Outshines 2023
The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has announced that the 2024 Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) results will be officially released on Thursday, January 23, 2025.
The results will be unveiled by the Minister for Education and Sports, Mama Janet K. Museveni, at a ceremony at State House Nakasero.
The announcement was made in a press statement issued by UNEB, under the theme: “Embracing Security and Holistic Assessment of Learners in a Dynamic Environment.”
Better Performance
Ahead of the release, UNEB officials, led by Chairperson Prof. Celestino Obua, briefed the Minister and other Ministry of Education and Sports (MOES) officials on the overall performance of the candidates.
During the briefing, UNEB Executive Director Mr. Dan N. Odongo shared positive news.
“Overall, the performance of candidates in 2024 is better than that of 2023,” said Odongo.
The statement also highlighted an increase in candidate registration, with 798,771 candidates having registered for the 2024 PLE compared to 749,254 in 2023, marking a 6.6% increase.
The release event will be streamed live on UNEB’s social media platforms (@UNEB_UG) and the Ministry of Education and Sports (MOES) channels, starting at 11:00 a.m.
After the results are officially announced, parents, candidates, and well-wishers will be able to access them via SMS by typing: PLEIndex Number, and sending it to 6600 (e.g., PLE00123/356, send to 6600).
Schools will access the results through their online portals, while printed copies will be distributed by respective District, City, or Municipal Inspectors of Schools.
UNEB’s Principal Public Relations Officer, Jennifer Kalule-Musamba, reaffirmed the board’s commitment to ensuring timely and accurate dissemination of results and emphasized the importance of maintaining security and integrity throughout the process.
The public eagerly awaits the official release as schools and parents prepare for the next steps in the academic journey of thousands of learners across the country.
