Chaos In The Parliament: Francis Zaake Has Been Pushed Because Of This Statement He Made

Mityana Municipality Member of Parliament, Francis Zaake, has boldly claimed that he is a "sacrifice to the struggle" for political change in Uganda, a sentiment that highlights the extreme personal costs he has endured in his advocacy. In an appearance on Sanyuka Television on Monday, Zaake emphasized his unwavering commitment to bringing about change, despite being a victim of torture and physical assault.

Zaake expressed frustration at the lack of solidarity from many of his compatriots in the ongoing fight for justice and political reform. “I am a sacrifice to the struggle, and that is what most people lack,” Zaake remarked, reflecting on the personal sacrifices he has made in the pursuit of his political ideals.

The legislator also addressed accusations regarding his conduct in Parliament, where he has faced criticism for confrontations with other lawmakers. He referred to incidents with prominent figures like General Katumba Wamala in 2017 and Kilak North MP Anthony Akol, questioning why he was being blamed for these conflicts. Zaake pointed out that, in his view, he had been the target in these situations, asserting that Wamala and Akol were the ones who should be criticized for their actions.

Zaake's remarks on these confrontations were pointed: "How many people have I assaulted? I am the one who has been attacked, yet I am said to lack decorum," he said. He further questioned, "When I entered Parliament in 2017, was it I who assaulted General Katumba, or was it he who assaulted me?" Zaake went on to describe the violent treatment he received during his detention in Arua and the torture he endured during the Covid-19 pandemic, actions which were condemned by the U.S. government.

Zaake closed by criticizing the nation's overall lack of decorum, arguing that those who are advocating for change should not be blamed for perceived misconduct. "The situation in our country is unacceptable. We are the ones fighting against these injustices, yet we are the ones accused of lacking decorum," he concluded.

Zaake's impassioned defense of his actions underscores the harsh reality faced by many Ugandans fighting for political transformation amidst an oppressive system.
