NUP Electoral Committee Confirms Erias Luyimbazi Nalukoola's Candidacy for Kawempe North MP Seat

The National Unity Platform (NUP) Electoral Management Committee has officially confirmed the credentials of renowned lawyer Erias Luyimbazi Nalukoola, clearing the way for him to contest the vacant Kawempe North MP seat.

Nalukoola, who expressed his interest in representing the area following the unfortunate demise of former MP Muhammad Ssegirinya, has been eagerly welcomed by the party as its official candidate for the seat.

Speaking at a press briefing, Ms. Mercy Walukamba, the Chairperson of the NUP Electoral Management Committee, acknowledged the importance of ensuring that only qualified and capable individuals represent the party in Parliament.

“We have thoroughly reviewed all applications, and after careful consideration, we are pleased to confirm that Erias Luyimbazi Nalukoola meets all the necessary criteria to run for the Kawempe North MP seat,” Walukamba said.

“He brings with him a wealth of experience, not only as a lawyer but also as someone who has consistently shown a commitment to fighting for justice and fairness, qualities that align with the values of the National Unity Platform.”

Luyimbazi Nalukoola’s candidacy comes at a time when the Kawempe North constituency is seeking a new representative after the passing of the late Muhammad Ssegirinya.

Ssegirinya had been an influential figure in the constituency, and his sudden death has left a significant gap. The NUP hopes that Nalukoola will continue the legacy of advocating for the people of Kawempe North.

In response to the confirmation of his candidacy, Nalukoola expressed his gratitude to the NUP and its leadership for their trust in him.
