Policeman Kills Ex-Minister’s Wife in Tragic Road Accident in Kampala

Police in Kampala are investigating an incident where a traffic police officer knocked dead Florence Taka, the wife of former Minister for State for East African Affairs, Julius Maganda. The tragic accident occurred on Sunday evening.

Florence Taka was in a Toyota Harrier, which had pulled over on the Kiwologoma-Nakwero road in Wakiso district. She was loading food from a nearby stall when the accident took place. Eyewitnesses reported the sequence of events.

A Toyota Premio, driven by Constable Wilber Nuwagaba, lost control while traveling in the same direction. The vehicle rammed into the parked Toyota Harrier, pinning Florence Taka between the two cars. She was rushed to the hospital.

Despite efforts to save her, Florence succumbed to her injuries. The police report confirmed that the constable was behind the wheel of the Toyota Premio, while ASP Achilles Atwebembere was also in the vehicle and sustained injuries.

ASP Atwebembere, the Community Liaison Officer for Kira Division Police, is currently receiving medical treatment. Both vehicles involved in the accident have been towed to Kira Division Police Station for a thorough inspection and further investigation.
