UNEB sets The Stage For The Release Of UCE results This Week

The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) is scheduled to brief the Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Museveni, today, ahead of the highly anticipated release of the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) results.

Sources within UNEB reveal that the briefing will pave the way for the official release of the results on Friday, February 7th, at 11 am at State House Nakasero. This will be the second set of national exam results to be released this year, following the release of the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) results in January.

Several industry stakeholders have been invited to attend the briefing, which will be led by UNEB’s Prof. Celestino Obua, UNEB Executive Director, Dr. Dan Odongo, and other officials. The Ministry of Education officials, including Janet Museveni, Monica Kaducu, the State Minister for Primary Education, and John Chrysestom Muyingo, the State Minister for Higher Education, will also be in attendance.

The UCE results are eagerly awaited by students, parents, and educators across the country. The results will determine the future academic prospects of the students, with those performing well eligible to proceed to Advanced Level education.

Notably, this year’s UCE exams marked a historic shift in the country’s educational framework, as candidates were assessed under the new lower secondary curriculum for the first time. To facilitate a smooth transition, UCE candidates sat for two separate sets of exams: one under the new curriculum and another referred to as the “transition examination.”

UNEB’s theme for the 2024 exams, “Embracing Security and Holistic Assessment of Learners in a Dynamic Environment,” reflects the board’s commitment to adapting to the changing educational landscape.
