Gulu University Student Found in Pool of Blood After Mysterious Midnight Attack

Police in Gulu City are investigating the suspected murder of Naklet Okidi, a Gulu University student residing in Pudyek Cell, Pece-Laroo Division. Okidi reportedly died on February 11, 2025, after an attack at his residence.

According to Johnson Akena, the LC1 chairperson of Pudyek Cell, on February 10, around 10:00 pm, Okidi went to watch a football match at his friend James Oola's house, leaving around midnight.

Later that night, neighbors heard Okidi crying for help from his house. Responders found him in a pool of blood and rushed him to St. Mary's Hospital Lacor in Gulu City, where he succumbed to his injuries the following day.

Aswa West Region Police Spokesperson David Mudong Ongom confirmed the incident. He stated that Oola has been arrested to assist with the investigation, which is registered at Gulu East Police Post under CRB 028/2025.

Investigators recovered a blood-stained machete, bedsheets, and a shirt belonging to the deceased as exhibits. The body is at St. Mary's Hospital Lacor awaiting a postmortem examination.

Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the incident to come forward to aid in the investigation. The community is in shock over the tragic loss of the student.

Gulu University has not yet released an official statement regarding Okidi's death. Students and faculty are mourning the loss of their colleague.

The police have increased patrols in the area to ensure the safety of residents and prevent similar incidents. They are also advising the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
