Vice President Alupo Calls for Govt Action on Vulnerable Children

Vice President Jessica Alupo has called on the government to allocate a dedicated budget for vulnerable children and street kids, emphasizing the urgency of addressing their welfare.
Speaking at Masuulita Children’s Village in Wakiso District, Alupo stressed that the responsibility of caring for these children should not be left to international organizations but should instead be a national priority.
Uganda continues to grapple with a rising number of vulnerable children, many of whom are forced to live on the streets due to poverty, abuse, and neglect.
Alupo underscored the need for sustainable government interventions to tackle the root causes of this crisis, advocating for essential services such as education, healthcare, and shelter.
A known advocate for women’s empowerment and children’s rights, Alupo has consistently championed initiatives aimed at reducing poverty and fostering economic growth.
Her recent launch of the GROW Loan initiative, which supports women entrepreneurs, reflects her broader vision for economic empowerment and social equity.
Alupo’s appeal to allocate a specific budget for vulnerable children is a call to action that demands immediate government attention.
She emphasized that ensuring the welfare of these children is not just a moral obligation but also a critical investment in the country’s future.
“We cannot continue to rely on international organizations to care for our most vulnerable citizens. As a government, we must take responsibility for the welfare of our children,” Alupo stated.
Her remarks highlight the need for concrete measures to improve the lives of thousands of children and contribute to Uganda’s long-term development.
The ball is now in the government’s court to translate this call into action and ensure that no child is left behind.
