Ssejusa Demands Kawempe Officers Be Sent to Frontline in DRC Instead of Fighting Protesters

Former Ugandan military general David Sejusa has strongly criticized the recent acts of brutality against civilians and journalists in Kawempe, calling for the masked men responsible to be sent to the frontline in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

In a post on X, Sejusa expressed outrage over the excessive use of force.

"I saw those masked men expending so many bullets above people's heads. Now, as discussions on what's gone wrong and who is deploying them go on, best at the moment is to gather them and send them to front line in DRC where they can face real fire from Real Men; not women and kids waving placards."

His remarks come amid growing concern over the increasing use of armed security forces to suppress demonstrations, with reports indicating that journalists and unarmed civilians were targeted during the latest crackdown in Kawempe.

The violence, which has sparked widespread condemnation, involved heavily armed security personnel, some in masks, firing warning shots and using force to disperse protestors.

Sejusa, a former coordinator of intelligence services and a known government critic, suggested that the forces engaged in repressing civilians should be redirected to active combat zones where their combat skills could be tested against real threats.
