David Rubongoya Fires Back at Muhoozi Over Claims He's Burundian and Govt Will Soon Deport Him

The National Unity Platform (NUP) Secretary General, David Lewis Rubongoya, has hit back at General Muhoozi Kainerugaba after the latter claimed he was from Burundi and would be deported before the year ends.
In a post on X, General Muhoozi stated, "David Rubongoya is from Burundi! We are going to deport him to Bujumbura before this year is out."
Rubongoya swiftly responded, questioning the contradiction in state narratives about him.
"But your agents have always claimed I work for your decadent regime. Aren't you making their lies a very difficult sell?" he replied.
He further criticized Muhoozi’s remarks, stating that they highlight why millions of Ugandans are engaged in the struggle for liberation.
He accused the regime of finding pleasure in torture, dehumanizing citizens, and issuing threats.
"Anyway, your tweets truly show why millions of Ugandans are involved in a struggle for liberation. God willing, that struggle will end in victory," he wrote.
Rubongoya also reaffirmed his Ugandan identity, dismissing Muhoozi’s deportation claims.
"FYI I am a proud indigenous Ugandan – a Mubiito from Bunyoro, descendant of the great Kabalega," he declared.
The exchange is the latest in an ongoing feud between the opposition and President Museveni’s son, who has been vocal against government critics on social media.
