Guinness World Record Breaker Maama D Set to Oust Ssemujju for Kira MP Seat in 2026

Dorcus Bashema Kirabo, popularly known as Mama D, gained international recognition after setting a Guinness World Record for the longest individual cooking marathon.

On December 23, 2023, she started her non-stop cooking session at Zoe’s Cakes 'n' Bites in Kira, Wakiso District, with the goal of surpassing the previous record of 119 hours and 57 minutes, held by Irish chef Alan Fisher. Her achievement was widely celebrated as a testament to her dedication and skill in the kitchen.

After breaking the record, Mama D has turned her attention to politics. She has officially announced her candidacy for Member of Parliament (MP) in Kira Municipality ahead of the 2026 elections. On her X account, she shared her plans with the people of Kira:

With Mama D now officially in the race, the contest for the parliamentary seat in Kira Municipality is expected to be lively. The National Unity Platform (NUP) has lawyer George Musisi, though his candidacy has not yet been confirmed by the party. Incumbent MP Hon. Ssemujju Nganda will also seek re-election.
