"You Can’t Take Uganda Out of Me" – Mzungu Boda Waves Ugandan Flag at Major Sporting Event

Reid Samuel James Armin, better known as "Mzungu Boda," may no longer be in Uganda, but his heart clearly still is. The New Zealand content creator, famous for his viral Ugandan lifestyle vlogs, was recently seen waving the Ugandan flag at a major sporting event in New Zealand.
On Sunday, March 16, 2025, Mzungu Boda took to his official X handle to share a photo of himself proudly holding up the Ugandan flag. His caption read: "You can take the boy out of Uganda, but you can’t take Uganda out of the boy."
He went on to thank Auckland F.C., a football club in his home country, for its contributions to New Zealand football. Additionally, he invited Ugandans to support the team while encouraging New Zealanders to visit Uganda.
This public display of love for Uganda comes months after he was removed from the country in November 2024 due to violations of immigration laws.
The Ugandan Ministry of Internal Affairs clarified that he had been working illegally under a tourist visa, running a charitable NGO and a children's football academy without proper authorization.
His drifting stunts and controversial skits also sparked debate, with some praising his efforts to help local communities, while others accused him of reinforcing stereotypes.
Despite the controversy surrounding his departure, Mzungu Boda still appears deeply connected to Uganda. His latest social media post has reignited discussions among Ugandans, with some showing support for his continued love of the country, while others remain skeptical of his past actions.
It remains to be seen if Mzungu Boda will ever return to Uganda, but one thing is clear; Uganda still holds a special place in his heart.
