“The EC Announced Nalukoola by Mistake.” Loser of Kawempe Election, Faridah Nambi Reveals

Faridah Nambi, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) flagbearer in the Kawempe North by-election, has alleged that the Electoral Commission (EC) declared her opponent, Nalukoola Luyimbazi, as the winner by mistake.

Speaking to the press on Sunday, Nambi expressed her disappointment with the results, insisting that the announcement was inaccurate.

"The Electoral Commission announced Nalukoola by mistake," she said, questioning the credibility of the vote tallying process.

Nambi, who ran a spirited campaign, emphasized that she is consulting her legal team to explore possible actions.

"I owe it to my supporters to ensure the truth comes out. The people of Kawempe North deserve transparency," she added.

The Electoral Commission has yet to respond to Nambi’s claims. However, Nalukoola, NUP candidate, was officially declared the winner.

The by-election followed the vacancy left after the previous MP’s removal. Nambi’s accusations are likely to spark further debate on the electoral process, with her supporters demanding a review.

As tensions rise, political analysts warn that the controversy could further polarize the constituency, already known as a stronghold for opposition voices
