"The Clock is Ticking" - Ugandan Police Officer’s Bold Advice to Women Aged 35 Years

gandan police officer Maureen Atuhaire has sparked debate after sharing bold advice for women aged 35 and above.
Atuhaire, a Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) and the Acting Commissioner of the Child and Family Protection Department, took to her X account to express her thoughts on marriage and motherhood.
In a post that caught many by surprise, Atuhaire wrote: "Dear Ladies, if you are 35 years of age and you are not married yet or haven't given birth to any child, please help yourself and get a man. Remember, the clock is ticking! There's no such thing as 'I am waiting for a perfect man.' You are not perfect either!"
Her message has since attracted mixed reactions from the public, with some agreeing and others criticizing her perspective.
Atuhaire's statement touches on a sensitive topic that often sparks discussions about societal and biological expectations for women.
In many cultures, including Uganda, the age of 35 is seen as a crucial turning point for fertility. Women are frequently reminded about the so-called "biological clock," which refers to the decline in reproductive capacity with age.
Her message suggests that waiting too long for the "right" partner may result in missed opportunities for marriage and motherhood.
Given her role in handling gender-related issues within the Uganda Police Force, it is possible that Atuhaire's advice stems from her experiences with family disputes. Many conflicts in relationships and homes arise due to unmet expectations regarding marriage and children.
However, some people argue that marriage and motherhood should be personal choices rather than obligations imposed by society.
Critics say that her statement overlooks the fact that not all women prioritize these milestones, and some prefer to focus on their careers, personal growth, or other life goals.
Others, however, support Atuhaire's view, stating that she is simply being realistic about the pressures and biological realities women face.
They believe that her advice is a wake-up call for those who may be delaying important life decisions.
