‘I Can't Believe This Happened’ – Intern Doctor Rodgers Abaho Murdered, Police Investigate

The sudden death of intern doctor Rodgers Abaho has left many in shock, with police in Kitgum now investigating the circumstances surrounding his tragic passing.

Abaho, who was working at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Kitgum, died on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, under mysterious and alarming circumstances.

His colleagues and family have expressed disbelief and sorrow over the event.

According to Joe Oloya, the Aswa East regional police public relations officer, Abaho reported to work as usual on Monday morning.

He carried out his duties and worked until 6:00 p.m. before retiring to the staff quarters.

Later that night, around 10:45 p.m., he was called to the maternity ward to attend to a mother facing complications after childbirth.

After successfully managing the case, he returned to his residence. However, just a few hours later, tragedy struck.

At around 2:53 a.m., Abaho suddenly fell seriously ill.

He experienced a rapid deterioration in his health, with symptoms including rashes all over his body and difficulty breathing.

In a desperate attempt to save him, he sought immediate medical attention at the hospital’s outpatient department (OPD), where efforts were made by his colleagues to stabilize him.

Despite their best efforts, Abaho passed away at 4:23 a.m., just two hours after falling ill.

His untimely death has left his colleagues and the local community shaken.

Oloya confirmed that police have opened an inquiry to determine the cause of the sudden and unexplained death.

Abaho’s family, who reside in Ishaka, Bushenyi, have requested that an autopsy be carried out at Gulu Regional Referral Hospital to establish the precise cause of death.

The investigation aims to clarify whether there were any underlying medical issues, or if any foul play was involved.

The news of his death has sparked a wave of grief, with many describing the loss as an unimaginable tragedy.
