Former Army Commander Drops Bombshell About NRM's 20 Million Members
Former army commander Mugisha Muntu has shocked Ugandans with explosive revelations about NRM party membership claims.
"NRM outcompetes Joseph Goebbels, Hitler's Minister of Propaganda, at what he knew best," Muntu declared on X platform.
According to NRM Secretariat reports last week, party membership grew from 18.3 million to 20.7 million members. The party linked this increase to strong public support ahead of 2026 elections.
Muntu compared NRM's announcement to historical propaganda tactics. He particularly referenced Mohammed Saeed al-Sahhaf's famous quote about "the mother of all battles."
The former NRM insider turned opposition leader dismissed these membership figures as pure exaggeration. His statement sparked heated debates across social media platforms.
Critics questioned NRM's data credibility against Uganda's 46 million population estimate. Opposition supporters backed Muntu's claims about the ruling party's inflated numbers.
The membership controversy has created tension between political camps. Political analysts expect this dispute to influence upcoming electoral discussions.
The ruling party maintains its stand on membership figures. Opposition leaders continue challenging NRM's membership claims
