China Town Opens new Store at Akamwesi Mall
China Town, a supermarket in Kampala has opened a new store at Akamwesi Mall along the Kampala- Gayaza Road.
Speaking during the opening ceremony on Thursday, Kawempe Division Resident City Commissioner, Hajji Noor Njuki Mbabali hailed the Chinese store for creating employment for Ugandans but also providing products at a relatively lower price than others.
“Such investors who not only provide employment for Ugandans but also sell products at lower prices are what the country needs. We need to support them,” Mbabali said.
Officials said the new store will product a variety of products, including household essentials, electronics, fashion items, and groceries.
During the grand opening on Thursday, there was a mad rush by members of the public who wanted to take advantage of the discounted products at the newly opened store for China Town supermarket.

To celebrate the launch, the supermarket announced a promotion where customers who made purchases worth shs200,000 or more stood a chance to win special gifts through a grand draw.
This added to the excitement of the event as many rushed to buy items.
The Akamwesi Mall branch marks China Town’s second store in Kampala, after the one at Lugogo Shopping Mall which opened last year.
Officials said the expansion demonstrates their commitment to provide affordable shopping options for Ugandans.
