Airtel Expands 4G Network in Ibanda with Four New Sites to Boost Connectivity, Development

In a major step towards enhancing digital connectivity in rural Uganda, Airtel Uganda has commissioned four new 4G network sites in Ibanda District.

The new installations, located in Kashozi, Nyansimbo, Rwenkobwa, and Kakoma are now fully operational and set to significantly improve network coverage across the region.

This development is part of Airtel Uganda’s broader national strategy to bridge the digital divide and deliver a seamless digital experience through its 100% 4G network.

Speaking during the official launch ceremony held in Bishozi on Thursday, JohnMark Ganantawa, the Airtel Uganda Regional Business Manager, emphasised the company’s commitment to driving socio-economic transformation through reliable connectivity.

“Our goal is to ensure that every Ugandan regardless of their location has access to fast, dependable internet. This expansion in Ibanda is another step towards connecting the unconnected and empowering communities through digital opportunities,” said Ganantawa.

The new sites are expected to benefit a wide range of users, including students, local businesses, farmers, health workers, and tourists visiting the area.

“We are proud to say that all four sites are now live and ready to serve the people of Ibanda. This means stronger signal strength, faster internet speeds, and better overall service quality,” he added.

The launch was warmly received by community leaders and residents. Steven Bebwa, Chairperson of Ishongoro Sub County and chief guest at the event, lauded Airtel Uganda for its investment in the area.

“This is a welcome and much-needed development. Improved connectivity will open up new opportunities for our people whether it's in education, agriculture, trade, or access to information,” Bebwa remarked.

The move is a reflection of Airtel Uganda’s mission to ensure that no Ugandan is left behind in the digital age. By investing in infrastructure and expanding its reach to underserved areas, the company continues to play a pivotal role in advancing the country's digital and economic progress.

“We remain committed to supporting national development through continuous investment in network infrastructure across the country,” Ganantawa concluded.

With these four new sites, Airtel Uganda reinforces its position as a leader in digital connectivity, enabling residents of Ibanda District to thrive in an increasingly digital world.
