Museveni Tips Ssembabule Residents on Wealth Creation

President Museveni has emphasized the need for irrigation, pasture planting, and modern farming practices to boost agricultural productivity and stabilize markets.

He made the remarks while addressing a public rally at Sembabule playgrounds in Sembabule town council on Sunday.

Highlighting the importance of preparedness for drought seasons, the president urged farmers to embrace irrigation and plant pasture for their animals to ensure consistent milk and food production throughout the year.

He noted that this approach would help Uganda maintain a reliable agricultural supply of products like milk and coffee

both locally and internationally.

The president advised farmers with small land holdings to adopt the Four-Acre Model, encouraging them to plant coffee on one acre, fruits on the second acre, pasture for animals on the third acre, and food crops for

family consumption on the fourth acre.

He said that with proper land utilization, even smallholders could achieve significant wealth, while those with larger farms could engage in extensive agriculture.

President Museveni also commended Mawogola North MP, Shartsi Musherure Kutesa for championing the message of wealth creation among her constituents, describing it as the true role of a leader, as opposed to merely politicking or handing out small sums of money to voters.

He expressed satisfaction that many people had embraced the four- acre model, noting that on his way to the rally he saw coffee plantations and milk collection centers.

However, he stressed the need to complete the agricultural cycle by adopting irrigation and planting pasture to secure animal feed during dry spells.

MP Musherure thanked President Museveni for his visionary leadership, which she said had greatly transformed the lives of the people of Sembabule through programs such as the Parish Development Model (PDM), Emyooga, piped water, and expanded electricity coverage.

She acknowledged that challenges remain but expressed confidence that under the president’s leadership, they would

be addressed.

The former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sam Kutesa also paid tribute to the president for delivering peace, stability, and the environment necessary for Uganda’s prosperity.

He urged the people of Sembabule to rally behind President Museveni as the sole candidate in the forthcoming elections and to maintain peace and unity during and after the electoral process.

Kutesa also warned against internal divisions within the NRM party, noting that such bickering weakens the movement and gives adversaries an opportunity to infiltrate.

Anifa Kawooya, the Member of Parliament for Mawogola West and State Minister for Health (General Duties) also thanked President Museveni for his focus on wealth creation and poverty eradication.

She pledged that as leaders, they would continue preaching the message of economic empowerment and encouraging communities to embrace government initiatives like the PDM and Emyooga.
