Eddy Mutwe’s wife, Ronnah Namara spoke about her husband's detention

Eddy Mutwe’s wife, Ronnah Namara, is still grappling with the emotional shock of seeing the disturbing images of her husband, who was abducted last Sunday

The photos, which showed Mutwe locked up, head shaved, and seemingly tortured, were posted online by the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

At first, I thought the photo was AI-generated. As you know, social media can be deceptive,” Namara said on Saturday.

“But someone told me to look closely at his forehead, and indeed I saw his scar. I felt weak.”

She explained how she had previously avoided social media, hoping to shield herself from the distressing news, but the photo made it impossible to escape the grim reality.

“But nevertheless, I have to be strong for these kids because when I break down, they will weep,” she said.

Bobi Wine, the leader of the National Unity Platform (NUP) and a close ally of Mutwe, visited the family with his wife, Barbie Itungo, to offer support.

The visit provided comfort to the family, as Bobi Wine assured them of his unwavering commitment to securing Mutwe’s release.

Mutwe’s Family Calls for His Return

The emotional toll of the abduction also weighed heavily on Mutwe’s mother, Jane Nantumbwe, who expressed anger over her son’s mistreatment.

We are crying because of my son. It is shameful that he has been stripped naked like that for the public to see. I ask the people who have him to bring him back to us,” Nantumbwe said

She described her son as the “single matchstick” she had left, explaining how much he meant to the family.

“Eddy is the only son I have. Just a few weeks ago, I was admitted to the hospital, and he was the one taking care of me. He has kids like you. Just like you love your children, we love him,” Nantumbwe said, her grief palpable.
