Enid Origumisiriza was born in Kashumurizi village to Gashome and Agnes Bagyema. Regarding her education background, she went to Bishop Kivigyere Girls’ School, Muyebe, later joined Kigezi High School for both O and A levels. Later on, she went to National Teachers’ College, Kabale. From there, she went to Bishop Barham University and attained a Bachelor’s in Education.

Origumisiriza, who is a teacher by profession, started her working journey at Kigezi High School as a teacher, where she was given the responsibility of being a class teacher as well as a senior woman teacher.

Later, she was transferred to Kaguta High School, where she spent three years. It was from there that she requested early retirement in 2014, as she wanted to engage in managing home activities.

In a one-on-one with Nile Post, Enid Origumisiriza, who is eyeing the Kabale Woman MP seat on the NRM ticket, revealed that she started her political journey in 2019 with the NRM primaries, where she was seeking an opportunity to represent women in Kabale. She adds that she lost in the party primaries, stressing that she was forced to come back as an independent candidate.

“I have been a leader even in my high school days, where I was a deputy head girl. At National Teachers’ College, I was a Christian Union chairperson. Later in life, I have been leading many women groups. But to engage in active politics, I started in 2019,” Origumisiriza revealed.

“I think from home, my mother was a housewife, but she was an acquired advocate for women, especially in decision-making. She always wanted to advocate for women. So maybe I copied from my mother and developed a feeling to join politics,” Origumisiriza adds.

Origumisiriza also states that her 2021 political journey was both rewarding and challenging. She adds that she was able to meet incredible people and learn from them, which helped in building relationships and, in return, enabled her to become stronger.

Origumisiriza further highlighted that she was forced to join the race as an independent candidate, adding that her votes were rigged. She says that she has reconciled with the party and is ready to contest in the NRM party primaries.

“Yes, I reconciled with my party and am ready to contest on the NRM ticket,” Origumisiriza states.

Enid Origumisiriza further says that she has been in a position to build strong structures as the country heads for the 2026 elections. She is optimistic about winning the Kabale Woman MP seat come 2026.

“The race is tough, but as a politician, you have to also be tough,” Origumisiriza notes.

Initially, Origumisiriza had opted out of the race, but she later made a U-turn, attributing it to personal challenges, saying that she was pushed by the popularity and support from her supporters, which forced her to make a comeback.

“Politics—they cannot force you. Politics is sacrifice. When they force you, you can crash,” Origumisiriza said.

Enid Origumisiriza adds that social media contributes to pushing one’s agenda as a politician. She adds that she intends to operate under a manifesto of addressing household poverty challenges through supporting different government programs like PDM.

“I am passionate about building homes. I would like to address the issue of gender-based violence,” Origumisiriza says.

Origumisiriza also expressed concern about the challenge of politics being commercialised, adding that it greatly affects the game.

“When you enter the game of politics, you must have money to give to voters. It’s as if, even when you are talking to people, they are not interested in listening to your manifesto,” Origumisiriza highlights.

Origumisiriza further disclosed that she is ready for the 2026 general elections. She is optimistic that victory belongs to her.

It should be noted that Enid Origumisiriza is contesting for the second time in the 2026 elections. As the ground gets tougher, she will be facing off with Cathrine Ndamira, who is the incumbent on the NRM ticket, Grace Akunda Bwesigye (NRM), Immaculate Kagwa, and Trust Kyomugisha.

The choice is in the hands of the voters in Kabale on who should be their next Woman MP.
