Man Utd move first to beat Arsenal and sign £59million star – Report

Manchester United face a defining moment in their season as they prepare to clash with Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final, a match that could rescue a campaign marred by disappointment.
With a dismal Premier League run leaving them in 16th place, tonight’s showdown represents more than silverware; it offers redemption.
The Red Devils are languishing 16th in the Premier League table and incidentally, their opposition on the night are 17th. Thus, this Europa League final is more than just a trophy for both teams that need the win more than anything else.
Despite having a big game on the line, it looks like Man Utd have already started focusing on potential future signings and one of the players that the club want to sign is Viktor Gyokeres. As per L’Equipe, Man Utd have moved first to try and beat Arsenal to the striker’s signature.
Gyokeres has been brilliant for the past couple of seasons for Sporting CP, mostly under Amorim when the Portuguese tactician was in charge of the club. He has shown enough promise to warrant a big move to a top club this summer.
In 51 appearances across all competitions, Gyokeres has scored 53 goals and provided 13 assists. These are numbers that Man Utd would love to have in a striker who plays for them and that could become a reality next season.
Arsenal are also interested in the player, but Man Utd might have the advantage of signing a player who has played under Amorim previously. The important factor is whether they qualify for the Champions League by beating Tottenham Hotspur today.
Gyokeres is expected to cost around £59million. That transfer fee in today’s market is quite warranted for a player who has scored a century of goals for club and country over the last couple of seasons. Man Utd desperately need a striker like him.
Whether or not United lift the Europa League trophy tonight, their pursuit of Viktor Gyokeres signals a bold intent to rebuild. If they can seal Champions League qualification and outmanoeuvre Arsenal in the transfer race, the Swedish striker could be the first step in a much-needed resurgence.
For now, all eyes are on the final whistle and what it could mean for United’s future
