DJ Bush Baby Found Dead in His Studio in Entebbe

ENTEBBE — Uganda’s entertainment industry is in mourning following the sudden death of celebrated disc jockey and media personality DJ Bush Baby.

His body was discovered on Thursday morning inside his recording studio in Entebbe.

According to initial reports, friends found him unresponsive after several attempts to reach him by phone failed.

Police were called to the scene and have since cordoned off the area to begin investigations.

“We are treating this as a sudden death. The body will be transported to the mortuary for postmortem as we continue with investigations,” a senior police officer said at the scene.

DJ Bush Baby, born Michael Owori, was one of Uganda’s pioneering urban deejays, widely credited for introducing and popularizing hip hop, R&B, and urban contemporary music to mainstream Ugandan audiences.

He launched his career in the late 1990s, becoming one of the standout DJs on Capital FM, where his unique mixing style and deep knowledge of global music trends won him a loyal fanbase.


Beyond his work on radio, Bush Baby played a key role in building Uganda’s urban music culture, mentoring younger DJs and artists, organizing events, and running production projects that helped elevate new talent.


He later worked with several other media houses, including Urban TV and UBC, where he was instrumental in promoting local music videos and interviews with both established and upcoming artists.

Throughout his two-decade career, DJ Bush Baby became a respected voice in the industry, known not only for his music but also for his humility, professionalism, and passion for nurturing Ugandan talent.

His untimely death has left the entertainment fraternity and fans in deep shock
