In a gesture of compassion and community service, Tororo Municipality Member of Parliament, Apollo Yeri Ofwono, has spearheaded the slaughtering of over 100 heads of cattle and more than 1,000 goats and sheep to benefit the Muslim community during the Eid al-Adha season.

The initiative, supported by Ofwono’s friends from the Blackburn UK Trust, kicked off at his residence and will span three days, targeting the needy and elderly Muslims across various cells within Tororo Municipality.

“Our people are very needy. Many can’t even afford a kilogram of meat during this time. I did this so they can at least have something, a change of diet,” MP Ofwono stated while supervising the distribution process.

The gesture has been widely welcomed by the beneficiaries, many of whom praised the legislator for his consistent support during times of need.

“This is not his first time doing such a thing. He has always been with us. To us, he is a generous and dependable leader,” said Ramadhan Magino, a Muslim leader.

Tororo District Kadhi, Sheikh Nooh Abdul-Malik Koire, also lauded the MP for his unwavering dedication to the welfare of his constituents.

“He doesn’t only show up during elections. He has always been there, giving foodstuffs, supporting school-going children with scholastic materials, and now this,” Sheikh Koire remarked.

The three-day meat distribution is expected to touch hundreds of families across Tororo, offering a sense of inclusion and joy to many Muslims celebrating Eid amid economic hardship.
