Police Officer Killed by Falling Tree in Kasese Storm
A police officer based at Mpondwe Police Station in Mpondwe Lhubiriha Town Council, Kasese District, has died after being struck by a falling tree during a Sunday afternoon rainstorm.
The officer, whose name had not been released by press time, was inside the police depot when the tree—apparently loosened by strong winds—collapsed onto the structure.
The downpour, which battered parts of western Uganda on June 8, caused widespread damage, uprooting trees and disrupting normal activity.
Police described the incident as a tragic consequence of severe weather, which swept through the area with little warning.
Authorities say investigations are underway to establish the full circumstances of the accident. The Uganda Police Force has not yet issued an official statement.
