Just days after being officially recognized by the Electoral Commission as a full-fledged political party, the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) has commenced the process of registering candidates who will represent the party in various electoral positions across the country in the 2026 general elections.

In a press conference held at the party’s headquarters on Katonga Road, the party’s head of electoral affairs, Micheal Kabaziguruka, confirmed that registration forms have already been distributed to their district coordinators using online platforms.

Kabaziguruka revealed that while the registration process is already underway, the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) is set to meet later this week to finalize the rules and guidelines that will govern their internal candidate selection process and also the party roadmap

"Although we were officially certified by the Electoral Commission recently, we had already begun preparations, contrary to what some doubters thought. Our forms are already in circulation and members can begin expressing interest," Kabaziguruka said.

PFF spokesperson Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda also confirmed that it took the Electoral Commission 11 months to grant the party its official status.

However, he emphasized that the delay did not stop them from organizing and preparing adequately for the 2026 elections.

Ssemujju also used the opportunity to criticize government officials for what he described as misuse of taxpayers' money, particularly in the organization of national events such as Heroes’ Day, which he claims has lost meaning and only serves as a channel for wasting public funds.

“It is sad to see that even the people awarded medals on such a day are not necessarily deserving,” Ssemujju remarked.

The PFF also announced that it will officially launch its political agenda on July 8 this year, a date they say will mark their formal entry into Uganda’s political arena.
