Ex-MP’s Wife Dies in Nakasongola Accident
The wife of a former Ugandan MP was among the five people that died in a Nakasongola accident on Sunday, June 08, 2025.
Phiona Agaba, the wife of former Kitagwenda MP Abbas Agaba Mugisa, was one of those who died in the road crash, a head-on collision between two vehicles.
Ex-MP Agaba described his deceased wife as “a devoted mothers†and one whose “warmth, kindness, and strength will never be forgotten.â€
“With a heavy heart, I announce the passing of my beloved wife, Phiona, who lost her life in an accident. Phiona was not only a devoted mother to our children but also a cherished part of my life,†the former Kitagwenda MP.
“Her warmth, kindness, and strength will never be forgotten! You will always live on in our hearts. Until we meet again.â€
A funeral service was held on June 10, 2025, at St Luke Church Ntinda in Kampala.
Phiona Agaba will be laid to rest on Wednesday at her ancestral home in Ngoma, Nakaseke District.

There has been an increase in the number of accidents in recent years. Up to 25,107 accidents were reported in 2024, with up to 4,434 of them fatal; 13,134 serious; and 7,539 minor.
