The Uganda Police, through the Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety, has issued a traffic advisory ahead of the National Budget Reading slated for Thursday, June 12, 2025.

The advisory outlines changes in traffic flow and road access that will take effect from 5:00am to 7:00pm on the day of the event.

According to a statement released by , the Public Relations Officer, SP Micheal Kananura the measures are aimed at ensuring safety and minimizing disruptions around the areas expected to experience heavy traffic due to the high-profile national event.

SP Kananura noted that traffic along Jinja-Kampala Road, Yusuf Lule Road, and John Babiiha Road will flow normally.

However, access to some roads in Kololo will be restricted to ease movement for invited guests and dignitaries.

He said Lower Kololo Terrace will be cut off, meaning motorists coming from John Babiiha Road will not be allowed to join it.

In addition, Upper Kololo Terrace will be completely closed, denying access to all motorists.

He further announced that Wampewo Avenue will be inaccessible at the Housing Finance Bank and Kololo traffic lights.

These cutoffs are intended to facilitate organized entry and movement within the vicinity of the budget reading venue.

According to the plan, vehicles bearing VVIP stickers will access the venue through the western gate and park behind the VIP sitting area.

VIPs and other invited guests will enter through the eastern gate along Wampewo Avenue, where special parking has been arranged.

Additional parking areas will be available at the Uganda Management Institute and Hotel Africana.

SP Kananura urged all motorists to strictly follow the guidelines to avoid unnecessary delays and congestion.

“We urge all motorists to adhere strictly to these guidelines to avoid any inconvenience. These changes are essential for the safety of all road users and the smooth management of traffic during the budget reading,” he said.

The Traffic Police also assured the public of heightened deployment of officers in the affected areas to guide motorists and ensure compliance with the traffic plan.
