Jowy Landa says it is not such a big deal that various artists shunned attending the burial of her late brother last week.

Jowy Landa’s brother, Martin Kawuki, who was pronounced dead on Wednesday, 11th June 2025, was laid to rest on Thursday, 12th June, in Luwero.

Contrary to the public’s expectation, only a few artists showed up at the burial, sparking conversations online about the disunity among entertainers.

While speaking to Dayas Walugembe of The Truth Media, Jowy Landa said that she did not expect many artists to attend the burial as it wasn’t a concert.

She noted that she is aware of how busy artists’ schedules can be and hence didn’t take it as a big deal that many shunned the burial.

It wasn’t a concert, it was a funeral. I didn’t expect artists to come and sing for me. Whoever managed to come, came through. I don’t take it as a big deal, I understand the pain of the public. Artists are busy.

She noted that some artists who didn’t attend the burial in Luwero sent her some financial help and messages of condolences.

“Those who came and stood with our family during the burial are our real people. You cannot force people to stand with you, but I also received many messages and calls from people in the industry,” the TNS singer said.

“For example, A Pass called me and we talked for a long while. He sent messages of condolences and some money. Some artists who didn’t show faces were busy with other engagements. It’s okay!”
