Reigning Miss Uganda Natasha Nyonyozi is basking in the spotlight after a stellar performance at the recently concluded Miss World pageant in India. At just 23 years old, Nyonyozi proved to be a formidable presence on the global stage, finishing among the top ten African contestants.

Nyonyozi also clinched two significant honors: the Beauty With a Purpose (BWAP) award for Africa and a third-place finish in the Miss Popularity category.

Speaking to Bukedde TV on Tuesday, she described her journey as transformative, highlighting the deep connections and friendships she formed with contestants from across the globe.

“Now I know that if I ever travel to places like America or Indonesia, I have friends there I can contact,” she shared. “That’s one of the most important aspects of the Miss World contest—creating a lasting global sisterhood.”

Looking ahead, Nyonyozi is determined to continue her advocacy work through the Nyonyozi Initiative, a project focused on autism awareness. Her initiative was the core of her BWAP submission and remains close to her heart.

“I want to create more autism awareness and acceptance,” she said. “I’ve also written a book titled Colours of the Spectrum, which shares real-life stories of autistic children, their parents, caregivers, and counsellors. I want to build on that work.”

On a personal note, Nyonyozi expressed her desire to one day start a family. “Having children is definitely in the plans,” she noted. “I want to get married and have my babies, but I’m not in a rush. I believe everything will happen at the right time.”

Her poise, passion, and purpose continue to inspire many across Uganda and beyond
