A major scandal has broken out in Uganda’s Ministry of Public Service after it was discovered that 7,341 people were secretly given government jobs without approval from Parliament. The Accountability Committee of Parliament says the Ministry hired the workers without informing them or getting the required budget clearance. This has shocked both lawmakers and the public.

“You can’t hire thousands in secret! This is a serious violation. We need answers,” said MP Muwanga Kivumbi, a member of the committee.

He added that such actions put a huge burden on the national payroll and break all rules of transparency and accountability.

Early reports show that the hiring process may not have followed official rules. Many now believe that the jobs were given as political favors, not based on merit. Some lawmakers worry that the move was a plan to reward supporters of the ruling government.

Opposition MPs have strongly condemned the recruitment. They say this shows how deeply corruption has entered Uganda’s public service system.

“These are not just jobs. These are bribes in disguise,” one opposition MP said during a press briefing.

“We cannot let government offices become gifts for political allies.”

Civil society groups have also called for quick action. They want all involved officials suspended immediately.

They are demanding a full investigation to find out how the illegal hiring happened, who was hired, and if they are qualified.

The Ministry of Finance is also under pressure. People are asking how these workers were added to the national payroll without Parliament’s knowledge.

So far, the Ministry of Public Service has not responded to the claims. No official statement has been released to explain the shocking findings.

Many Ugandans are now asking if there are more secret deals like this happening in other ministries. The scandal has started a national debate about trust, fairness, and how government jobs are handed out.

This incident has placed President Museveni’s administration under more public pressure, with critics saying the government has turned civil service into a political tool
