Gunfire Rocks Nakasero Market as Security Kills Knife-Wielding Attacker in Broad Daylight

Security officers have shot dead a suspected criminal who attempted to storm Nakasero Market and disrupt traders.
The incident happened earlier today when the man, said to be armed with a knife, tried to force his way into the busy market. Eyewitnesses say he looked suspicious and was threatening to attack traders who were going about their businesses.
Security personnel who were patrolling the area quickly intervened. Despite warnings to surrender, the suspect reportedly refused to cooperate, forcing officers to open fire. He was shot on the spot, bringing his mission to an abrupt end.
According to Kiberu Sirajje, some traders had earlier raised concerns about criminals targeting them within the market. Many expressed relief that security responded swiftly before anyone got hurt.
"We are tired of these thugs disturbing our businesses. Let the government deploy more security to protect us," one trader said.
The body of the deceased was taken to the city mortuary as police launched further investigations. Authorities have not yet revealed the suspect’s identity, but they confirmed that operations will continue to ensure markets remain safe for traders and customers.
This incident comes amid rising concerns over crime in Kampala’s markets, with security agencies urged to increase surveillance and protect the business community
