Government Committed to Improving Teachers' Welfare, Says Minister Muyingo

Minister of State for Higher Education, John Chrysostom Muyingo, has assured the public that the government is fully committed to improving the welfare of all teachers across the country.Speaking during an event, the minister stated that plans are already in place to increase the salaries of teachers and other public servants gradually.
Muyingo said that while the government may not be able to meet all demands at once due to financial limitations, efforts are being made to ensure that teachers are given the respect, recognition, and pay they deserve.
He emphasized that the work of teachers is vital in shaping the future of the nation and should be supported fully.
“Our teachers are the backbone of our education system. The government recognizes their sacrifice and hard work.
That is why we are working on a phased approach to increase their salaries and improve their working conditions,” said Muyingo.
The minister added that salary improvements for public servants will not happen overnight, but they are being planned carefully to ensure fairness and sustainability.
He said that as the economy improves, more funds will be made available to support these changes.
Muyingo also called for patience from teachers and their unions, asking them to continue working with the government through dialogue.
He noted that meaningful change is possible when all parties come together in good faith and with shared goals.
He further assured teachers that their concerns are being heard and that no group will be left behind. “We are not only focusing on science teachers or those in urban areas.
This plan will cover all categories of teachers, including those in rural and hard-to-reach regions,” he explained
