Lionel Messi’s incredible net worth and £8.5million Miami mansion he never leaves

Football legend Lionel Messi is marking his 38th birthday on Tuesday. But the former Barcelona star has another reason to celebrate: he's inching closer to becoming a billionaire.
The Inter Miami player's estimated net worth currently stands at a whopping £620million. His lucrative deal with Miami also includes a hefty bonus - a slice of the revenue from Apple TV's MLS Season Pass subscriptions.
The ex-Paris Saint-Germain forward also holds an ownership stake in Miami, and it's predicted that Messi will own 10 percent of the team by the end of his contract. It seems he's on a fast track to joining the ranks of the world's billionaires sooner rather than later.
Celebrity Net Worth reports that his Miami contract pays him a weekly salary of £755k ($1.03m) which totals £39.5m ($54m) annually, set to be paid over four years. To date in his career, Messi has earned around £880m in salary and £293m from endorsements - but these earnings haven't quite tipped him into billionaire territory just yet.
Despite the talk surrounding his growing fortune, one significant asset the Argentinian owns is his luxury mansion. The World Cup winning icon bought the £8.5m property in September 2023, shortly after signing up with David Beckham's MLS franchise, reports the Mirror US.

Despite having the means to throw an extravagant birthday celebration anywhere in the world, it seems Messi might be ringing in his special day at his lavish residence, judging by previous remarks he's made.
Nestled within the exclusive Bay Colony community, Messi's luxurious home is perched on a picturesque island and boasts a sprawling swimming pool with views of the Fort Lauderdale skyline.
The property reportedly features 10 bedrooms, a VIP suite, and two boat docks. But as of June 2024, Messi revealed that he hadn't really taken the time to explore Miami, preferring instead to stay at home with his wife, Antonella Roccuzzo, and their three children.

"The truth is that we don't go out much either," Messi told Argentinian outlet Infobae regarding his lifestyle. "We live in the area where the club is located and we have a short drive to Miami. We go out, we've gone out a couple of times, but I still don't know it well."
Messi is currently in action at FIFA's revamped Club World Cup. However, the star was powerless to prevent his side conceding two late goals as Miami surrendered a lead against Brazilian side Palmeiras to draw 2-2 and let slip the chance to win Group A.
Yet Messi did manage to make history on his birthday, as Miami became the first American team to reach the play-offs of the new-look tournament.
Messi and co. will now travel to Atlanta to take on his former club, and current European Champions, PSG in a Round of 16 fixture that will be sure to dominate headlines
