A young woman, Nakiwolo Sophia, was killed on Nasser Road in central Kampala during an evening attack by suspected members of the Kifeesi gang. She was on her way to board a taxi after work when the incident happened.

Eyewitnesses said a group of men approached her and demanded her bag. When she refused to give it to them, they pulled out knives and stabbed her. The attackers ran away, leaving her bleeding on the ground. Bystanders were seen watching in shock.

Sophia worked as a mobile money agent. People who knew her described her as hardworking and friendly. Her death has left many in the area feeling sad and concerned about safety in the city centre.

Shopkeepers and residents said that Nasser Road is known for gang activity, especially in the evening.

One person said, “These boys move in groups and target women, especially those who handle money. They are dangerous, and this is not the first time.”

Local people have asked the police to increase patrols and make the city safer.

As of now, the police has not released a statement, and no arrests have been made. Sophia’s family is mourning her death.

Many people have shared their sadness on social media and asked for justice. Others have called on the authorities to act against Kifeesi gangs, who continue to target people in the city, especially women.
