Ruben Amorim is moving one step closer to instilling his desired style of play at Manchester United with the imminent arrival of Cerro Porteno left-back Diego Leon. The 18-year-old is flying to England this week to officially become a United player after visiting in January to complete his medical.

The Red Devils have agreed an initial £3.2million deal for Leon, which could rise to £7m if his add-ons are triggered. He is joining on a five-year contract, and club figures believe he boasts the potential quality to become a permanent fixture in Amorim's first team.

Leon seemingly shares that belief based on his confident comments on Tuesday, as he arrived at an airport in Paraguay to move to his new home.

"I'm really happy, I think every player dreams of this. When you're a professional, you have to adapt quickly, it is a massive opportunity," Leon told Versus as he waited for his flight.

"Everyone thinks I'll go out on loan, but I don't have that mindset. I'm going to kill it in pre-season and within one or two games, I'll already be playing with them."

Should Leon make such an impact, Amorim will be left with a headache involving Patrick Dorgu, Diogo Dalot and one of his star players, Amad.

United splashed £25m to sign Dorgu from Lecce in January, and the 20-year-old almost immediately became the club's first-choice left-wing-back.

Leon is expected to train with the first team while making most of his starts for United's Under-21s next season as he beds into life in England.

But should the South American teenager spring a surprise and make an instant impact, Dorgu could switch over to the right of Amorim's 3-4-3 system.

Amorim used two players with the same strongest foot as his wing-backs at Sporting, feeding into an expectation that Amad could partner Dorgu as his primary pairing next term.

Amad could be left battling more new arrivals in Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo for a starting berth as one of United's two 'No. 10s' on either side of the striker.

Dalot has also played a crucial role since Amorim's arrival, but his long-term role is up in the air if there is to be a switch to two left-footed wing-backs.

Leon's determination to stake a claim in pre-season cannot be in doubt, but the teenager has only made 42 senior appearances in his career so far.

He is unlikely to start next term as an option ahead of Dorgu, Dalot and Amad as United manage his adaptation.

But once Leon becomes a natural wing-back ready for regular first-team minutes, Amorim could be left scratching his head about where Amad's future lies in his rebuild
