Political analyst and former Kampala Woman MP Nabilah Naggayi Sempala has questioned the political loyalty and consistency of Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, following reports of his latest move to the People's Front for Freedom (PFF).
Speaking during NTV On The Spot, Nabilah reminded Ugandans that Lukwago has always publicly identified himself as a member of the Democratic Party (DP), even while working closely with other political groups.
“Lukwago has always been a member of the Democratic Party and has consistently said so. I honestly don't know if he was just on loan to the FDC for a year and is now in the PFF,” Nabilah stated, raising concerns over Lukwago’s shifting political affiliations.
In recent years, Lukwago became one of the most visible figures within the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), even as internal divisions rocked the party. His latest appearance under the PFF, led by Dr. Kizza Besigye, has sparked debate over whether he is committed to one party or simply moving based on personal interests.
Nabilah’s remarks have added to the ongoing discussion about opposition unity and credibility in Uganda. She warned that for real change to happen, leaders must be clear about where they stand, rather than jumping from one party to another for convenience.
The development comes at a time when Uganda's opposition remains fragmented, with internal fights, factional politics, and new alliances causing uncertainty among voters
