There was drama in Kampala on Saturday morning, July 5, 2025, after a traffic police officer fell to the ground while attempting to chase down a suspect near Nakasero Primary School.

According to a video posted on X (formerly Twitter), the suspect was among a group of rowdy youths claiming to be supporters of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) who disrupted traffic in the area, causing confusion and panic among motorists and pedestrians.

The group, clad in yellow and chanting pro-NRM slogans, brought vehicles to a halt as they danced and blocked part of the road. The police quickly intervened to restore order and ordered the arrest of those involved.

In the scuffle, one traffic officer who attempted to run after a fleeing suspect stumbled and fell, drawing reactions from onlookers who captured the moment on video.

The incident comes just hours before President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is expected to be officially nominated as the NRM flag bearer in the 2026 general elections. Museveni, who has led Uganda since 1986, is seeking to extend his stay in power beyond four decades.

The video has sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some users questioning the discipline of the alleged supporters, while others expressed concern over the safety of police officers who work under intense pressure in politically charged environments
