The President of the National Unity Platform (NUP), H.E. Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine, has rallied Ugandans to support the party’s upcoming campaign fundraising drive.

The fundraising drive is set to be officially launched tomorrow at the party headquarters in Makerere Kavule, Kampala.

Addressing supporters during a brief press conference on Sunday evening, Bobi Wine emphasised the need for collective financial contribution towards the struggle for freedom and good governance in Uganda.

He noted that the journey ahead requires extensive mobilisation and resources to facilitate grassroots structures, voter education, and countrywide campaigns as the party eyes the 2026 general elections.

“Our oppressors have money that they steal from the people, but we have the people themselves.

We call upon every Ugandan who desires change to contribute whatever they can to this cause. No amount is too small,” Bobi Wine stated.

He highlighted that the funds will support mobilisation activities, security and welfare of campaign teams, legal aid for victims of political persecution, and logistical requirements as the political season intensifies.

The NUP President also urged Ugandans in the diaspora to remain active in funding the struggle, praising their past contributions which, he said, sustained party operations during the 2021 election period and subsequent legal battles.

He assured supporters that transparency and accountability mechanisms are in place to ensure prudent utilisation of all funds received.

Party Secretary General David Lewis Rubongoya reiterated Bobi Wine’s call, noting that the fundraising launch tomorrow will feature various dignitaries, artists, and ordinary supporters.

He encouraged supporters to attend physically or follow the proceedings via NUP’s official social media channels to demonstrate solidarity.

Political analysts observe that this fundraising initiative could set the pace for a robust early campaign strategy ahead of anticipated rigorous political contests in 2026.

They argue that with mounting economic hardships and alleged political intimidation, parties like NUP rely heavily on the goodwill and contributions of ordinary citizens to sustain operations.

Meanwhile, Bobi Wine reminded Ugandans that the struggle for change is not solely his responsibility but a collective duty.

“We must own this process together. Our liberation is our responsibility, and it begins with simple acts like giving to fund this campaign,” he emphasised.

The fundraising launch is expected to begin at 10:00 AM tomorrow at Makerere Kavule and will outline targeted financial needs, contribution channels, and subsequent regional fundraising drives to sustain momentum in the coming months
