‘Banana’ Singer Fik Gaza Joins NRM, Blocked from Meeting Museveni

Struggling musician Fik Gaza, best known for his hit song “Banana”, has officially crossed over to the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM).
Fik Gaza was seen at a recent NRM event, where he made his political allegiance clear by donning party colors and associating with party supporters. His decision comes amid reports of declining musical relevance and personal struggles.
The singer’s appearance caused a stir as he attempted to reach President Yoweri Museveni for a photo opportunity. Fik Gaza was seen pushing through the crowd, eager to introduce himself and exchange pleasantries with the head of state.
However, his efforts were cut short by Special Forces Command (SFC) guards, who blocked him from getting close to the President. Witnesses say the artist looked visibly disappointed after being turned away without recognition.
Despite the cold reception, Fik Gaza remained present at the event and continued to show support for the party, mingling with other NRM loyalists and taking photos with fellow musicians and supporters.
His move to join NRM has drawn mixed reactions online, with some critics suggesting the musician is chasing survival through politics, while others praised him for aligning with the “party of power.”
Fik Gaza has yet to release an official statement explaining his decision to join the NRM.
Political analysts say such endorsements are becoming more common as entertainers seek visibility and backing ahead of the 2026 elections
