Tragic details have emerged surrounding the brutal murder of David and Deborah Mutaaga, a couple who had recently returned to Uganda after living in Switzerland for over 30 years. According to police investigations, the attacker is believed to be a close family or clan member, driven by jealousy over the couple’s wealth and success.

Reports indicate that the unknown killer entered the home through a hole made behind the fence. He then broke into the house and found David Mutaaga sitting in the living room. Without hesitation, the attacker began stabbing him with a knife and panga, demanding to know why David, his children, and the rest of his family were doing well while other clan members remained poor in Kampala.

After injuring David, the masked intruder went upstairs and found Deborah Mutaaga in the bathroom, where she was taking a shower. Deborah had already called neighbors for help and was shouting during the attack. Her phone remained on call during the entire incident. The killer forced his way into the bathroom and stabbed her multiple times until she died.

He then returned downstairs to find David still alive and continued to stab him while repeating his earlier question about their wealth compared to the rest of the family. David was unable to respond due to the pain and eventually died from his injuries.

Although the couple had installed several CCTV cameras around their home, identifying the killer has been difficult since he was masked. However, police are now reviewing Deborah’s last phone call and plan to analyze the voice recordings to help identify the attacker.

Two house helpers have been arrested for questioning, even though they were not at home during the incident. Other relatives who recently visited the couple have also been summoned by police for interrogation.

David and Deborah had lived in Switzerland for over three decades, working as bankers in a top financial institution in Zurich. They returned to Uganda two years ago and settled in Nakiwogo, Entebbe. According to sources, David was also the heir to his late father’s estate, a situation that is believed to have angered some clan members and may have played a role in the motive behind the attack.

The community remains shocked and heartbroken, as the investigation continues. Police have assured the public that they will do everything possible to bring the killer to justice
