Several Injured, Vehicle Vandalized as Supporters of 2 MP Aspirants Clash in Bushenyi

Uganda Police in the Greater Bushenyi region have launched investigations into a case of alleged assault and malicious damage involving two parliamentary aspirants vying for the Igara West seat.
According to SP Apollo Tayebwa, the regional police spokesperson, the incident is reported to have taken place on July 11, 2025, in Katimba village, Rushinya parish, Kakanju sub-county in Bushenyi district.
It is alleged that Mr. Tugume Boniface, one of the contenders for the Igara West parliamentary seat, was attacked by supporters of his rival, Counsel Kyampene Cohen an incident that took place in broad daylight.
The altercation reportedly escalated into violence, with stones being hurled at Tugume’s Mercedes Benz ML, registration number UBQ 415C, leaving the vehicle in the condition shown above.
The vehicle sustained visible damage, and some of Tugume’s entourage members are said to have sustained injuries during the confrontation, some of them were rushed to the Hospital for medical attention.
This is happening at the same time when The President of Uganda, His Excellency, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, has directed all politicians to speak well in public stating that politicians who will incite Ugandans will be dealt with by the Law.
