Looking ahead to the 2025/2026 season, there is a feeling of uncertainty surrounding Manchester City.

On one hand, the signings of Rayan Cherki, Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Marcus Bettinelli mean Pep Guardiola’s side have every reason to believe that they will be miles better in the following campaign.

However, Bernardo Silva pinpointed Manchester City’s defensive struggles after Al Hilal tore them apart on the break during the Round of 16 of FIFA Club World Cup — which illustrates that they are still a work-in-progress as a side.

When it comes to matters off the pitch, City are certainly taking steps in the right direction as journalist Mike McGrath revealed that they have agreed a long-term contract extension with sportswear company PUMA — who have been their sponsors since 2019.

However, several Manchester City fans are disappointed by the impending announcement as they are not fans of many of the kits that they have designed for the club over the years.

Man City fans not happy at all after club agree new Puma deal

One Manchester City fan simply reacted to the report about the club prolonging their partnership with PUMA by writing: “Another decade of hideous kits.”

A second supporter expressed his disappointment, claiming: “It’s never been more over.”

With Manchester City fans lambasting their rumoured third kit for next season, another supporter reacted to PUMA maintaining ties with the Sky Blues by writing: “Terrible news.”

A fourth fan criticised the German sportswear brand’s partnership with City, claiming: “I’m about as disappointed as it gets. At this point, I think they’re trying to create terrible kits.”

With PUMA having a tendency to make remakes of previous Manchester City kits, such as when they paid homage to their gorgeous away strip from the 2010/2011 season for the Club World Cup, a supporter slated them by sarcastically stating: “More recreated kits, no originality, yay.”

Finally, a sixth Manchester City fan would like Umbro to design their kits again and replace Puma, writing: “Bring back Umbro. Nicest kits we’ve had in the last two decades.”

It’s safe to say that the supporters are wholly disappointed and when City launch their away and third kits for next season, there will be plenty of discourse among the fanbase.

Why Puma and Man City will continue their partnership

Unlike the fans, Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak is a huge admirer of PUMA’s work, which explains why the partnership will continue.

Al Mubarak explained via Manchester City’s official website: “I have to say PUMA have been phenomenal partners to the club. We love the creativity.”

“I think that particular kit [away kit last season] was superb, a huge hit. I think the fans love it. Noel [Gallagher] was really brilliant in terms of his role and the creation of this kit too.”

“And I think you’ll see a lot more of that. The PUMA and City Football Group partnership, and particularly with Manchester City, is getting more and more creative.”

At the end of the day, Manchester City fans’ primary concern will be to perform on the pitch.

As long as Pep Guardiola can whip this current crop of City players into shape, they will be relieved after coming off the back of a disappointing season and an underwhelming time at the Club World Cup
